Governor AbdulRazaq Pays Condolence Visits to Chief Judge and Families of Late Deputy Gov. Kisira, Sen. Rafiu

Date: 2024-04-19

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq made a condolence visit on Thursday to the family of the late former Deputy Governor of the state, Elder Peter ?isira, who passed away on 30th March 2024. Mrs Felicia Kisira and other family members warmly welcomed him at their residence in Ilorin GRA.

Governor AbdulRazaq, who was in Saudi Arabia for lesser Hajj when the incident occurred, had previously conveyed his condolences through a press statement.

“I am here to sympathise with you over the loss of His Excellency former deputy Governor, Peter Kisira. He had served the state well and left a good legacy. We pray for the repose of his soul. We equally pray that God gives you and the children the fortitude to bear the loss,” the Governor expressed before signing the condolence register.

Mrs Felicia expressed gratitude to the Governor for his support during their time of need, praising his dedication and unheralded efforts that, she noted, have continued to improve the state.

“We appreciate Your Excellency for the visit. We have been hearing about you as a kind father, and we can testify to that. We are grateful because you came to our aid when we needed you,” Mrs Felicia said.

“Some of us are following your achievements. You have oppositions, but they are there to encourage you to do more. As you are a quiet achiever, continue to do good. When you leave, people will realize it and posterity will not forget you. May the Lord continue to be with you, sir."

Governor AbdulRazaq also paid his respects to the Chief Judge of Kwara State, Justice Biodun Ayodele Adebara, following the passing of his father, Pa Adebara Adio Durotoye.

“On behalf of the government and the people of the state, we have come to sympathise with you over the loss of Baba. All we can pray for is the forgiveness of his sins and God's mercies. May his soul rest in peace,” he told the Adebaras.

Furthermore, Governor AbdulRazaq visited the Ilorin residence of the late Senator Rafiu Ibrahim to pay his final respects.

“As Muslims, we just pray that May Allah grant him Al-jannah Firdauz. We all belong to God, and we will go back to him at our appointed time. Children should emulate their father. He has set a fine example and left a huge shoe for them to fill,” the Governor stated.

Justice Adebara expressed appreciation for AbdulRazaq's compassionate and empathetic nature, praising his leadership not only in the state but also within the Nigeria Governors' Forum (NGF).

“His Excellency is a person with a caring and loving heart. He is a person who loves everyone around him. We sincerely thank you for finding time to come to commiserate with us on the demise of our father,” the Chief Judge remarked.

Prof Muritala Awodun, representing Senator Rafiu's family, thanked the Governor for his solidarity during this challenging time. The Governor was welcomed at the Senator's residence by some leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state and family members.

Former Senior Special Assistant on Special Duties, Alhaji Abdulrazhaq Jiddah, accompanied the Governor on these visits.
