DOGO BECOMES CP By Abubakar Imam
Pakata Community has produced its first Police Commissioner in Mr. Garuba Salman Dogo. The promotion of our son, brother and friend,Mr Garba Salman Dogo,to the rank of Commissioner of Police was announced by the Police Service Commission on Tuesday, March 28,2023.
CP Dogo is a son of late Alhaji Salman Dogo of Onikanhun Compound, Pakata,Ilorin. His father was a businessman,Aso-Oke magnate, transporter and community leader who served as the founding Chairman of Pakata Area Development Association(PADA).His father was also a politician and a member of the defunct Ilorin Talaka Parapo. He was the second Honourable Councillor produced by Pakata and a man whose death was precipitated as a result of an injury he sustained in an accident while returning his children to their various schools in the present-day Kogi State. May Allah continue to forgive his shortcomings and bless him with Aljanat fridaouz.
The new Commissioner of Police,thus, became the first indigene of Pakata that would attain the exalted rank in the Nigeria Police and one of the about a dozen indigenes of Ilorin Emirate who would be so privileged.
Prior to the emergence as a notable and front line police officer,the most senior officer produced by Pakata was the late Mallam Ambali Elelu of Ile Gbalasa who retired as an Assistant Commissioner of Police in 1990, a few years to the enlistment of our new CP.
CP Dogo who is known at home,particularly among his contemporaries across Pakata as either Alfa Olopa or Alfa Onikanhun,is an amiable, generous, helpful and determined officer and gentleman who got to the present position through hard work,devotion to duties and belief in the unquestionable potency of the Almighty Allah .
Mr Dogo,who is also a former Ag. College Librarian, Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin, is not only the first CP from Pakata but also the first from the Balogun Alanamu constituency and the third from the present-day Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State.
May Allah bless the new status of CP Dogo and grant him sound health and greater wisdom to excel in his next desired posting.
