Popular Ilorin Televangelist, Popoola is dead

he death of popular Ilorin based clergy and Televangelist Reverend Moses Rahman Popoola,who died yesterday came to many as a surprise.

The Kwaran state chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) through the General Secretary of the body, Rev. Dr Idowu Ibitoye bemoaned the demise of the Late clergy.

He said, “The news came as a shock to us,this is a big loss to the body of Christ and it has taught us that we all should intensify our religion and our faith in God.”

While describing the late Popoola, Ibitoye said, ” Baba Popoola is a true preacher, who lives by what he preached, he is a true child of God, and a source of inspiration for preachers like myself.

“His death have left a huge vacuum in our association and the body of Christ, but we prayed that God looks after his family and his ministry after his death.”

According a church member who spoke with National Pilot under anonymity, confirmed that the late Popoola died yesterday, after a brief illness.

Pastor Popoola, a native of Omu-Aran in Kwara State is the founder and General overseer of New Testament Christian Mission International with headquarters in Ilorin, which was founded in 1982.

He held the church’s first service in his apartment at Ita Amodu area of Ilorin, with only few people in attendance, later moved to three other different locations before settIing at the present auditorium of about 2000-seat capacity sanctuary.

Late Popoola, holds a B. Sc. Degree in Geology (ABU, Zaria), post graduate degree in Economic Planning (ISVE, Italy) and Masters in Business Administration (Unilorin).

The late clergyman, is survived by his wife Florence and four children and grandchildren.
