Atiku/Obi DG condemns elections cancellation

...says Atiku poised for victory

The Director-General, Atiku/Obi Presidential Campaign in Kwara State, Dr. Ali Ahmad, has condemned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC's) decision to postpone the general elections just six hours to its commencement.

Ahmad, who described the development as sad, lamented that inspite of being provided with everything required, the electoral umpire failed to deliver when it mattered most.

A statement issued by the campaign office on Saturday to express the party's dismay regretted that the issue which has now become a recurring decimal in the country would not in anyway portray the nation in good light among the comity of nations.

He, however, enjoined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members and supporters throughout the federation to bear the inconvenience that comes with the postponement and remain calm in their various localities.

The State Director-General added that such development should as a matter of fact be a test of their resolve not to be dettered but remain resolute to ensure that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi emerged victorious on the new date set by the Commission.

Ahmad also noted that the unfortunate incident should by now show undecided and other voters that Nigeria cannot move forward with the All Progressives Congress-led government, the major reason they must join PDP to salvage the nation.

According to him, "it is regrettable that the elections have to be shifted for another week despite years of preparations by the Commission".

"As for the INEC Chairman, I think we should give him another chance. Let's support him fully again to ensure he delivers on his commitment of free, fear and transparent elections".

He further admonished party members to show courage, commitment, zeal and be determined more than ever before to use the new development to the PDP advantage come 23rd February.
