2005 Idi-Ape Mayhem: Afonja Union Wants Victims Compensated
... commends Saraki
Afonja Descendants Union has appealed to the Kwara State Government to compensate the victims of 2005 Idi-Ape mayhem.
The union channelled the appeal through a latter written to the former Governor, Senator Bukola Saraki.
In the letter entitled "Re-solidarity visit and matters arising," the union recalled that the appeal was part of request tabled when it recently paid a solidarity visit to Saraki.
It was jointly signed by the President and Secretary of the union, Alhaji Olola Kasum and Alhaji Hassan Amao, respectively.
According to the latter, "That our popular candidate for the Magaji Aare position, Alhaji Saadu Suleman Aare, now stained by Court indictment, should be pardoned to live in freedom again, without shackles to his civil and social rights.
"That the seemingly moribund throne of Baba Isale be revive and refilled without further delay.
"That the identified victims of 2005 Idi-Ape mayhem be adequately compensated."
It, however, commended Saraki for the financial and material donations given to the Idi-Ape family during the solidarity visit.
