Kwara Falcons charged to win continental tickets

The State Director of Sports, Coach Tunde Kazeem, gave the charge while receiving the trophy won by the Kwara Falcons at the just concluded Conference 6 of the Kwese Premier Basketball League held in Ilorin, Kwara State.

The Kwara State Basketball Club, Kwara Falcons, has been charged to go all out and win a continental ticket for the State at the forthcoming Super eight League scheduled for September 4 to 9, 2017 in Kano.

The State Director of Sports, Coach Tunde Kazeem, gave the charge while receiving the trophy won by the Kwara Falcons at the just concluded Conference 6 of the Kwese Premier Basketball League held in Ilorin, Kwara State.

Kazeem urged the team to replica the winning streak and spirit that saw them top the Atlantic Conference and the Conference six when they file out in Kano for the Super eight.

The Director commended the State government for its moral and financial support to the team and sports generally. He also praised the State Basketball Association and Stakeholders for their support and confidence in the team?.

Coach? Kazeem described as a National honour the invitation of two of the Kwara Falcons players to the national camp ahead of the 2017 Afro basketball championship in Tunisia and Senegal billed for next month. The Secretary of Kwara Falcons, Bello Azeez confirmed that the club has received an invitation letter from the Nigeria Basketball Federation requesting the service of David Godwin and Mojuba Oyeleye.

Azeez said the two players have been released to join other home based players in Lagos ahead of the Afro basketball championship. Similarly, Kazeem described as a bold step the award of contract for the renovation of the indoor Sports Hall by the State government.

The Director of Sports said the State Stadium, which was built over 40 years ago, was the only one in the Country that houses twenty six sports. He stated that the renovation would promote sporting activities and attract National and international Championship to the State.

The Kwara State Government on Thursday awarded the renovation of the Indoor sports hall to Metro Fittings and Accessories Nigeria Limited for a contract sum of N900 million and will last nine months.
