Ilorin set for Olu Obafemi poetry festival

Date: 2017-03-30

The city of Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State, will, between April 3 and 4, 2017, host poets and lovers of poetry during the celebration of Professor Olu Obafemi poetry festival.

The two-day event, which will hold at the Kwara State Arts Council, Gerin Alimi Road, Ilorin, will bring together upcoming and established poets. There will also be competition among budding poets, particularly primary and secondary school students.

According to the organiser of the event, Ebika Anthony, the event is to celebrate the contribution of Professor Obafemi to the acceptance of poetry in the society.

"Professor Obafemi is one of the biggest literary personalities that we have in the country, and even on the African continent, and it is important that we celebrate and appreciate him for the good work he is doing for literature, particularly poetry," Anthony said.
