Top gear preparations for Igbomina Day on Nov 5th
The bi-annual event fixed for the 5th November is to raise a targeted fund of N500m for the establishment of Igbomina Community Radio and renovations of Igbomina House @ Ganmo .
The National President of Omo Ibile Igbomina, Engr Timothy Niyi Adebayo made this known in his speech on the occasion of the association's quarterly meeting held today at Ganmo.
In his report, Adebayo declared that the association through the activities of its National Excutive Council had recorded monumental history in many areas that should call for the people's celebration.
He expressed joy that during their tenure the Olusin of Isanlu Isin, Oba Solomon Olugbenga Oloyede and Olupako of Share, Oba Abubakar Garba were elevated to the prestigious pinnacle of first class status in the state.
Adebayo thanked the state Council of Chiefs and the state governor, Dr Abdulfatah Ahmed for uplifting the two royal fathers and prayed for more successes as he steered the ship of Kwara state.
He also mentioned other areas of their achievements, which included the settlements of rifts amongst warring Igbomina communities, coordination of Igbomina students bodies in tertiary institutions and setting up various standing committees to ease administration of the socio-cultural association.
On Asepo Omo Igbomina, a body that unites Igbomina of Osun and Kwara states, Adebayo also disclosed that a new leadership for the joint association will emerge sometimes in October this year, after the dissolution of its former executive body headed by Chief G.A. Oyinlola.
He added that in the course of their visit to Orangun of Oke-Ila in Ifedayo local government area of Osun state, the Monarch offered two pupils that are indigent to his Oba Abolarin College with free accommodation, tuitions and feeding.
The National President however appealed to all communities in Igbominaland to fulfill their pledges and registration with the body noting that only communities in Isin local government area have full complied with their registrations.
The Igbomina Day Planning Committee through Mr Teju Oguntoye also briefed the meeting of the Committees' efforts on the ceremony while Mr Richard Olusola announced levies for various communities for the proposed #500m project launching.
The gathering attracted Presidents and Secretaries of communities across Igbominaland as well as Representatives of branches of Omo Ibile Igbomina outside the state.
