Kwara to convene education summit

Date: 2016-02-05

KWARA State Commissioner for Education, Alhaji Musa Yeketi, has disclosed plans by the state government to convey an education summit towards repositioning the sector.

The date of the summit would however be fixed after a tour by Yeketi and other stakeholders to public primary, post-primary and tertiary education facilities in the state.

Already, the state's law against loitering by students during school hours with stiffer penalties on the teachers and parents of such erring pupils and wards is now in force in Ilorin the state capital.

Also, the commissioner in a chat with The Guardian in Ilorin, disclosed his readiness to halt cultism said to have crept into primary schools in the state, just as he promised to bring to prosecute, "irrespective of their societal status" sponsors of such cult members.
