Kwara Govt To Inject N2b Into Micro Credit Scheme

Gov. Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara has announced that his government would inject N2 billion into the State's Micro Credit Scheme.

The governor made this known during the swearing in of 10 Commissioners out of the 19 nominees sent to the House of Assembly in Ilorin on Tuesday. He said the remaining Commissioners would be sworn in as soon as they were cleared by the House.

According to the governor, the additional fund was to expand the scheme in order to accommodate more young people, women and other vulnerable groups in the state. "My administration remains committed to youth empowerment and development," he said.

The governor, therefore, charged the new commissioners to adopt prudent and innovative approaches for the attainment of the scheme and other objectives of the administration within the shortest possible time.

"You must remain bound by our existing commitment to performance-based management as your tenure will be continuously monitored in line with set targets and agreed critical success factors.

"Now is the time for us to perform our obligations to the people by providing social and economic development that positively transform our state and improve their lives. "Without delay, therefore, I expect you to key into the Shared Prosperity Program of this administration", Ahmed said.

The new commissioners and their portfolio are: Alhaji Demola Banu Nurudeen (Finance) and Bolakale Ayo Nuhu (Youth and Sports).

Others are; Kamaldeen Adeyemi (Attorney General and Justice) and Engr. Musa Ayinla Yeketi (Education).

The rest are Hajia Funmilayo Isiaka-Oniwa (Industry and Solid Minerals), Engr. Idris Abubakar Garba (Energy) and Abdulrasaq Akorede (Water), Babatunde Ajeigbe (Information), Aro Jamiudeen (Works) and Otunba Taiwo Joseph (Environment). (NAN)
