Saraki won't last as Senate President -Eminent lawyer, Robert Clarke
Prominent lawyer Chief Robert Clark Tuesday evening said he forsees a situation in which the Senate President Bukola Saraki does not last in his position. Clarke who is also a Senior Advocate of Nigeria said the rule relied upon by the 57 senators that elected Saraki was faulty arguing that such rule could only have been applicable only if the Senate had been inaugurated. Clarke argued that about 50 per cent of the members could not be absent and the Senate claims to have been inaugurated.
Speaking on Channels television news hour interview segment Clarke said what it means that the Senate only has 57 members. "With what happened today one wonders whether PDP and APC are not one and the same,"" he said
He said what the sensors did was to force their way into the election and thereafter ask the aggrieved people to go to court. He said with what happened Saraki has betrayed his party adding that such a principal officer of the National Assembly cannot be expected to pursue the programmes of his party. However a senator Dino Melaye said what the Senators did has not violated any law of Nigeria.
"Every constitutional procedure was followed," Melaye said.
