GOV CANDIDATE DONATES TO VICTIMS OF ILORIN CRISIS

Date: 2015-05-19

A philanthropist and governorship candidate of the Labour Party in the recent governorship election in Kwara State, Dr Mike Omotosho, has donated relief materials to victims of the recent unrest in Ilorin, Kwara State.

Making the donation at the weekend, he urged Nigerians to develop the habit of donating generously to help others in need.

About 10 houses were burnt at Agbarere and Ita Ajia in Ilorin during attacks by hoodlums. The police have launched an operation to clean the state of hoodlums with over 200 of them already arrested.

The Mike Omotosho Foundation (MOF), a non political and non-governmental organisation, donated mattresses and other items to victims.

Omotosho said: "We need to give to those in dire need... In countries being ravaged by natural disasters, other generous countries are sending in their donations. We need to emulate this gesture".

He described the crisis as unfortunate while sympathizing with the victims. Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, the Mogaji Are of Ilorin, Alhaji Aremu Zubair and Alhaji Issa Alabi, Mogaji Ile Elekuru Agbarere, thanked him for the gesture.
