Photographers, lab operators end rift over price increase
The owners of colour photo laboratories and photographers in Oyo, Osun, Ondo, Kwara, Ekiti and Ogun states have settled their month old rift over increase in the prices of printing materials by the colour laboratory owners.
Daily Trust reports that photographers have rejected the price increment, leading to the stoppage of work by colour laboratory owners.
During the crisis, photographers were forced to travel far to print their pictures.
However, the intervention into the situation by elders of the two bodies who toured the concerned states to dialogue with members brought the matter to an amicable end.
Meanwhile, the state executives of the aggrieved bodies under the aegis of Nigerian Professional Photographers, Videographers Association (NPPVA) and Colour Photo Lab Owners Association of Nigeria (CPLAON) from the affected states met in Ilorin, weekend, met to compromise on the areas of dispute.
After several hours of meeting, the Ondo State Chairman CLAON, Alhaji Kazeem Ayoade, said that the two bodies resolved, among others, that the status quo should remain, adding: "Some states which had already started implementing the new prices should continue while those which were yet to adjust should remain so until after May 20, 2015 when another meeting that will agree on a generally accepted price for all will hold."
