The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State has indicated intention to contest the outcome of Ekiti/Irepodun/Isin/Oke-Ero Federal Constituency's election, won by the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Funke Adedoyin, in the Presidential and National Assembly elections.

Speaking with journalists in Ilorin at the weekend, the governorship candidate of the PDP, Senator Simeon Sule Ajibola, said the impressive performance of the party in the three local governments of Ekiti, Oke-Ero and Isin was as a result of high level of voters enlightenment.

He noted that some rural areas in Irepodun council where the APC won majority was suspicious while the PDP was ready to challenge the result at the tribunal.

Ajibola stated that the use of two method accreditations (card reader and manual) during the voting blighted the chances of the party in the election.

"On our performance in Ekiti, Oke-Ero and Isin, in that Federal Constituency in particular, the level of enlightenment in these local governments, was relatively high. Then, our commitment to our party was also very high, such that we almost produced our House of Representatives candidate in that constituency if not because of the effect of some votes from the rural parts of Irepodun Local Government. But that is how God want it, though we are challenging it.

"The area where a large number of voters turned out from Irepodun Local Government are predominantly rural areas and the election there was based on manual accreditation. So you can see the effect of two types of accreditations for the same election. We will leave the tribunal to make a pronouncement on that matter", Ajibola said.
