Tambuwal, 5 APC governors in Ilorin for Ahmed

Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, yesterday declared his intention to run for a second term on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying he has fulfilled his covenant with the people of Kwara State.

He said his decision to seek re-election was to enable him do more for the people of the state.

His declaration was attended by APC leaders; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal; former Head of State, General Muhammadu Buhari and former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar; APC national leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu; former Governor of Ekiti, Dr. Kayode Fayemi; former FCT minister, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai; Governors Rochas Okorocha, Rabiu Kwankwaso, Rotimi Amaechi, Adams Oshiomhole and Aliyu Wamakko of Sokoto.

Ahmed, who commended his predecessor, Senator Bukola Saraki, and the party's leadership for endorsing him for a second term said, "I have essentially fulfilled my covenant with the people of Kwara State" adding that his administration has rekindled hope in the youth by creating 10, 200 jobs and also assisted the informal sector with N700m in microcredit, among other achievements.

Ahmed also paid homage to the late Waziri of Ilorin and strongman of Kwara politics, Dr. Abubakar Olusola Saraki, saying it is only Saraki's dynasty that could make him "the son of a humble policeman governor," adding that the dynasty currently led by his predecessor had democratized access to power.
