Cultists attacks: Emir of Ilorin bans carnivals
The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari has directed all sub-community leaders in Ilorin to enforce total ban of any Carnivals that some youth organisations are planning to stage in the state capital.
Gambari in a statement issued by National President and Secretary of Sheu Alimi Foundation,Sheikh Dr. AbdulKadir Oba Solagberu and Mallam Abdulazeez Arowona entitled “Letter of request to foil Youth Carnivals in the Ilorin Emirate”, stated that all Mogaji and Alanguas should act immediately.
“On behalf of His Royal Highness, the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman Kwara State Traditional Council, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari CFR, we have been directed to send you warm greetings.
“There is no doubt that the incessant terrorist attacks in some states particularly in the Northern part of the country is highly condemnable and disheartening to the wellbeing of the entire citizenry.
“Similarly, the recent attacks by some youths in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital as well as killings by members of the secret cult society of higher institutions of learning in the Ilorin metropolis is alien to the tradition
of our people which is the promotion of Islamic doctrines and social values. “Against this backdrop, it is obvious that if not curbed, the occasion of the forthcoming carnival organized by some youth associations across the state particularly in Ilorin, will be used to perpetrate yet another dastard acts capable of causing chaos in our society. “Therefore, owing to your significant roles in the promotion of the much
desired peaceful co-existence in the Ilorin Emirate and beyond, His Royal Highness has directed that Magajis and Alanguas ensure that no carnival be held in their respective domains forthwith.”
The forum was also urged to expedite action towards ensuring the sustenance of the peace, love and harmony in the emirate.
