Kwali council gives N10m scholarship to aviation student

Date: 2014-02-18

Area Council in the FCT has given the sum of N10 million as scholarship to one of its indigenes, Mr. Daniel Gamu, a student-pilot at the International Pilot School in Ilorin, Kwara State.

This was made known by the council's chairman Mr. Ibrahim Daniel during the presentation of 17 new buses for junior secondary schools and another one to Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) in the area.

The exercise was conducted by the FCT Minister of State, Mrs.Olajumoke Akinjide, who noted that the importance of the school buses in the running of the institutions cannot be over-emphasised.

Specifically, she said that the buses would be useful in conveying the students to the venues of inter-school debates, symposia and sport competitions, among others.

"Education is the best legacy a society can give to its children and we look forward to seeing companies doing business in various communities of the FCT and as well giving back to their host communities," she said.

Earlier, the council chairman had disclosed that the council has also procured 50,000 exercise books meant to be distributed to primary and junior secondary schools in the area, urging the benefitting schools to make good use of the buses given to them.
