The chairman of Offa Local Government Area, Prince Saheed Lekan Popoola has presented 2012 budget of the local government to the legislature.

While presenting a budget estimate of N741,921,310 to Offa Local Government Legislative Council, Popoola enumerated his achievements in the last one financial year and added that the year 2011 witnessed some important achievements in physical development through road construction and rehabilitation, electrification and provision of potable water.

In the area of provision of potable water for the people Popoola stated; "in order to provide clean water in¬sufficient quantity for most of our people, a total of nine boreholes have so far been sunk while about 80 boreholes have been replaced in the last one year".

On-inter-governmental relations, Popoola acknowledged the vision of the Kwara State Governor, Alhaji AbdulFatah Ahmed in his efforts to develop the state especially the youth, who have so far benefitted from the Kwara State Bridge Empowerment Scheme, KWABES. which he stated has given employment to numerous youth, adding that work would soon commence on the ltafa-Ogidiri-Igbooro-Alubata road as the state government has awarded the contract, while the Offa specialist hospital would soon be reconstructed by the government.

The 2012 budget according to Popoola is in the overall interest of Offa Local Government Area and the people stand to benefit a lot from its implementation and urged the legislative house to expedite action in giving it timely approval.
