Hajj: 2531 intending pilgrims’ll be airlifted from Ilorin zone - Coordinator

A total number of 2,531 Muslim faithful will be airlifted from the Ilorin International Airport for this year Hajj pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia.

The Zonal Coordinator, National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Ilorin zone, which comprises Kwara, Ekiti and Ondo States, Alhaji Mousa Ubandawaki, who disclosed this on Tuesday in an exclusive interview with National Pilot  in Ilorin, said about 1957 persons would perform this year’s hajj from Kwara State.

He said "We have more than 2,500 persons from Ilorin Zone that will perform this year’s hajj. The breakdown: we have 1,957 pilgrims from Kwara, 246 from Ekiti State, and 316 from Ondo State. These are the numbers that will be airlifted from Ilorin International Airport."

Ubandawaki stressed that the zone is set for the airlift, adding, "Though we are not starting on the 6th September as most of states have some challenges in terms Visa application request. Right now, we have gotten over it and will start airlift latest between 10 to 12th September".

The Coordinator urged the intending pilgrims to stick to the level of commitment and diligent they had taken during the screening process.

He said "They should be alerted and enlightened on preventive measures against the backdrop of Ebola Virus and t to be security conscious".
