Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Sola Isiaka Gold, who made the announcement today in Ilorin, said Governor Ahmed's decision to reinstate the council was in exercise of the powers conferred him by Kwara State Law No. 4 of 2006, under which Offa and Oyun Local Government Councils were dissolved in February 2013 following the breakdown of public order in Erin-Ile and Offa in Oyun and Offa Local Government Areas respectively.

Alhaji Gold stated that while peace has also been restored in Offa, the Council of Offa Local Government Area remains suspended, as its election has been nullified by a court judgment.

The SSG advised the reinstated Oyun Local Government Council to rededicate itself to the maintenance of public order and called on the people of Erin-Ile and Offa communities to remain peaceful and law-abiding, stressing that the Police and other law enforcement agencies will remain in place to ensure that law and other is maintained.
