Emir of Ilorin Congratulates Four Indigenes Elevated to Senior Advocate of Nigeria
The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman of the Kwara State Traditional Rulers Council, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR, has congratulated four distinguished sons of Ilorin Emirate on their elevation to the prestigious rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), describing the development as an unprecedented achievement in the Emirate's legal history.
The four legal practitioners are the Kwara State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Sulyman Senior Ibrahim; Barrister Afeez Hassan Adebayo; Barrister Mas'ud Alabelewe; and Barrister Mohammed Adelodun.
They were among the legal practitioners conferred with the prestigious rank by the Legal Practitioners' Privileges Committee (LPPC), chaired by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, GCON.
In a congratulatory message issued through his spokesman, Dr. Abdulazeez Arowona, the Emir described the elevation of four indigenes of Ilorin Emirate in the same batch as a remarkable milestone and a testament to the community's longstanding reputation as a centre of Islamic scholarship, intellectual development and legal excellence.
The monarch said the achievement reflected the dedication, professional competence and outstanding contributions of the beneficiaries to the Nigerian legal profession.
He particularly celebrated the elevation of the Kwara State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Sulyman Senior Ibrahim, describing it as a fulfilment of destiny.
According to the Emir, the coincidence between the Attorney-General's middle name, Senior, and his attainment of the prestigious legal rank was both remarkable and symbolic.
"It is destiny manifesting. He has always answered 'Senior' as his middle name, and today, the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, has crowned him as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria. His name predicted his rank," the monarch said.
Sulu-Gambari further described the Attorney-General's elevation as a well-deserved recognition of his professional accomplishments and contributions to the administration of justice in Kwara State.
"It is a well-deserved honour for a humble, brilliant and dedicated son of the Emirate who has served our dear state with integrity," he added.
The Emir equally congratulated Barrister Afeez Hassan Adebayo, Barrister Mas'ud Alabelewe and Barrister Mohammed Adelodun, commending their industry, intellectual capacity, professional dedication and contributions to the advancement of legal practice.
He expressed satisfaction that the four legal practitioners had distinguished themselves sufficiently to attain one of the highest professional honours available to members of the Nigerian Bar.
The traditional ruler noted that their collective achievement would further strengthen Ilorin Emirate's reputation for producing accomplished legal professionals, scholars and public servants.
He urged the newly elevated Senior Advocates to regard their new status not merely as a personal achievement but as an additional responsibility to uphold professional ethics, promote justice and contribute meaningfully to national development.
The Emir also commended the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, and members of the Legal Practitioners' Privileges Committee for recognising the professional accomplishments of the four indigenes.
He expressed hope that their elevation would inspire younger members of the Emirate, particularly aspiring lawyers, to pursue academic excellence, professional integrity and dedicated service to society.
Sulu-Gambari prayed to Almighty Allah to grant the new Senior Advocates wisdom, sound health and continued success in their professional endeavours.
He also urged them to justify the confidence reposed in them by using their elevated positions to advance justice, strengthen the rule of law and serve humanity. The congratulatory message was signed by Dr. Abdulazeez Arowona, spokesman to the Emir of Ilorin.
