Atunwa charges politicians
The Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly Barrister Razak Atunwa has called on political office holders in the country to be more committed towards improving the wellbeing of their people.
Similarly, members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have been enjoined to avoid acts capable of creating factions within the party.
Barrister Atunwa in his statement signed by his S A Media, Abdul-Rahman Sanni, gave the advice in Afon headquarters of Asa Local Government Area at the weekend while addressing members of the party in the area during a stewardship forum.
The speaker explained that democracy could only be meaningful to the people when they enjoy basic necessities of life and expressed delight that the PDP led government in the area had been more responsive to the yearnings of the people.
The Speaker who enumerated the achievements of the state government urged members to put party’s interest above personal considerations to enable the party consolidates on its performance in future elections.
In his remark, the chairman of the party in the Kwara Central Senatorial District Alhaji Jimoh Adeshina praised the hierarchy of the party at both state and local government Area for their commitment towards making life more meaningful for the people of the area.
In their separate remarks, the spokespersons for Owode, Onire and Afon districts, Alhaji Sheu Gafar, Mallam Saka Akande and Alhaji Ibrahim Kadoka lauded the state and Asa Local Government council for the numerous people oriented projects executed in their Districts and assured of the total supports of their people to ‘the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The party woman and youth leaders in the area, Hajia Iyagba Saka and Alhaji Toyin Afolabi respectively noted with delight that the fortunes of woman and youth had improved significantly through the government’s numerous empowerment programmes and solicited for more government’s patronage.
The State Chairman of the Scholarship Board, Alhaji Isiaka Mogaji disclosed that the state government had provided scholarship for the state indigenes in tertiary institutions and urged parents to attach more interest to the education of their children and wards.
