The Chairman of the Nigeria Governors' Forum (NGF) and Governor of Kwara State, Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq, on Friday, joined other dignitaries at the funeral service of the late Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja, held at the National Christian Centre, Abuja.

Paying tribute to the late General, Governor AbdulRazaq described him as a patriot whose extraordinary service to the nation and steadfast commitment to safeguarding Nigeria's sovereignty will remain indelible in the annals of history.

The NGF Chairman also commended Lt. Gen. Lagbaja's contributions to fostering peace and security across the country, describing him as a shining example of selfless leadership.

“His remarkable service to our nation, dedication to the defence of our sovereignty, and unwavering commitment to peace and security will forever be remembered,” the NGF said.

Governor AbdulRazaq had paid his last tribute to Lagbaja on Tuesday where he sympathised with his family, colleagues, and all the men and women of the Nigerian Army and prayed for the repose of his soul.

Lt. Gen. Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja passed on Tuesday night, November 5, 2024, after a period of illness, according to a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
