Date: 2024-09-22

The Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission (KWASIEC) has declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates as the winners of the local government elections held across the state on Saturday.

Announcing the results at KWASIEC headquarters in Ilorin in the early hours of Sunday, the Commission's Chairman, Baba Okanla, confirmed that the APC secured all 16 Local Government Area chairmanship positions and won all 193 councillorship seats.

According to Okanla, the election process was conducted across the state's 16 Local Government Areas and 193 wards, with the participation of five political parties: APC, APM, PDP, SDP, and Accord.

Okanla commended the political parties for their commitment to ensuring a peaceful election and expressed gratitude to the people of Kwara State for turning out en masse to exercise their civic rights. He also praised security agencies for maintaining peace and order throughout the voting process.
