NILDS DG Advocates Capacity Building for Stakeholders in Democratic Institutions
As reported by Royal News, the Director General of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS), Professor Abubakar Olanrewaju Sulaiman, has called for improved capacity building for both elected and non-elected stakeholders serving in the democratic institutions across the three tiers of government.
Professor Sulaiman made this advocacy during a working visit to the Kwara State Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ilorin, which was seen as a homecoming for the former Minister of National Planning.
He assured the state APC Secretary, Alhaji Mustapha Salman Isowo, and his team, who received him on behalf of the party chairman, that NILDS, as a capacity-building hub of the National Assembly, will provide training for their personnel to enhance job delivery.
The Director General said the proposed partnership to train the personnel of the Party in the state of harmony should not be misconstrued, pointing out that it is interdem with the Core Mandate of the Institute that has the reputation to have trained Legislatures, chairmen, Councillors political bigwigs drawn from all the tiers of government in over twenty states of the federation for which kwara APC cannot afford to be left behind.
The Chief Executive Officer of NILDS, an Institute which has the pedigree for promoting best practices in Legislative activities in Nigeria and in the Sub-region commended the Executive Governor of Kwara State AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq CON, for his visionary and impactful leadership.
He thanked the Leader of APC in Kwara state who doubles as executive governor and Chairman Nigerian Governor's forum Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and other leaders in Kwara state for creating enabling environment for the partnership.
The obviously elated Professor Sulaiman accordingly acknowledged the uncommon tumultuous reception accorded him and his entourage by the enthusiastic supporters of the party which underscores their high expectations from the partnership.
The university Don who is a Cerebral political scientist applauded the right steps in the right direction by both parties for what he described an irrevocable resolve of the APC to partner NILDS stressing the indispensability of capacity development in engendering growth in any organisation.
The Secretary of the Party Alhaji Mustapha Salman Isowo onbehalf of the state APC chairman appreciated the opportunity for the partnership to train the personnel of the Party whom he said are yawning to be trained like their counterparts trained in other states by the NILDS.
Alhaji Isowo commended the DG for being a worthy ambassador of the state whom he described as a man of umblemished integrity who meant well for the people.
The strategic partnership meeting was witnessed by members of the State Executive Council of APC who interfaced with the DG and his entourage on mutually beneficial areas going forward with the partnership.
Party fateful were on hand to cheer the home coming of the Director General whom they vouched for as a respected Community Leader, reputable builder of the youths for leadership role, and a trusted politician who is passionate about human capital development, peace and progress of the state.
Both parties are expected to sign and zeal the Memorandum of Understanding, MoU at a later date to be fixed.
