Dignitaries Gather in Ilorin, Pay Last Respect to Eleventh Balogun Gambari

According to a news report from Leadership, A host of dignitaries, including representatives of Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, gathered in Ilorin to attend the fidau of the eleventh Balogun Gambari, Alhaji AbdulKareem Laaro Buhari.

The governor was represented by his special adviser for Special Duties, Alhaji Razaq Jiddah, who was accompanied by senior adviser and counsellor Alhaji Saadu Salahu, non-executive director of NNPCL Dr. Ghali Alaaya, and special adviser on media Alhaji Bashir Adigun.

Notable attendees included Senator Saliu Mustapha, executive chairman of the Federal Character Commission Dr. Muibat Dankaka, and former governorship aspirant Alhaji Yahaya Seriki. The fidau was led by the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Muhammad Solihu, along with other prominent Islamic scholars.

Also in attendance were members of the House of Representatives, Ahmed Yinka Aluko (Ilorin East/South Federal Constituency) and Raheem Olawuyi Ajulopin (Ekiti/Ireodun/Isin/Oke-Ero Federal Constituency). The late Balogun Gambari was the father of Mal. Tunji Buhari, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former state chairman of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) in Kwara State.

The event saw the presence of the grand Mufti of Ilorin, Sheikh Suleiman Onikijipa; Chief of Staff at Government House, Ilorin, Alhaji Mahe Abdulkadir; retired grand Kadi of the state Shariah Court of Appeal, Justice Saliu Muhammad; former Nigerian Ambassador to the Netherlands, Dr. Nimota Akanbi; and director general of the Michael Imoudu National Institute for Labour Studies (MINILS), Comrade Issa Aremu, among others.

In a brief sermon, the grand Mukadam of Ilorin, Sheikh Sulaiman Dan-Borno, urged those in positions of power to remain humble and reflect on their origins. He encouraged the wealthy to begin their charitable acts at home to gain genuine appreciation before seeking public accolades. Additionally, he advised citizens to follow their leaders' guidance, provided it aligns with the dictates of the Almighty God.
