Kwara Evicts 10 Lunatics, 31 Beggars From Ilorin
The Kwara State Government has commenced the eviction of beggars and lunatics from Ilorin metropolis to rid the state capital of uncleanliness, menace and vices.
The eviction team from the Ministry of Social Development toured the Post Office, Tipper Garage, Offa Garage and Geri Alimi axes of the metropolis where no fewer than 10 lunatics and 31 beggars were evicted during the flag off of the exercise.
The evicted people were taken to one of the ministry's rehabilitation homes for treatment and subsequent repatriation.
Speaking to journalists after the exercise, the Commissioner for Social Development, Opeyemi Oluwakemi Afolashade, explained that the exercise was part of the ministry's responsibilities and a means to further ensure that the society was cleansed environmental defacement and insanity.
She, therefore, warned those indulging in such acts to desist or be ready to face the wrath of the law.
City & Crime further reports that before the eviction, the beggars defied two efforts by the ministry to rid them from the metropolis.
