*Gov. AbdulRazaq's Mission is to Bring Succour to Poor and Vulnerable - SPC

Following the release of fund by the Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, to execute the preparatory activities of the Fadama NG-CARES (Result Area2), the platform today began the sensitisation of the people at the grassroot level with the maiden tour round Asa, Ilorin West, Ilorin South and Ilorin East LGAs.

Recall that the platform had earlier started the sensitisation/advocacy using the electronic media and the different platforms of social media to broadcast the details concerning the initiative of the Fadama NG-CARES (Nigeria Covid-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus Result Area2), its objectives, criteria for qualification and processes for participation.

The second stage of sensitisation/advocacy, which entails reaching out to the officers at different LGAs, who will later transmit the message to potential beneficiaries, commenced with a team of officers from Kwara Fadama NG-CARES Office, led by the State Project Coordinator, Engr. Dr. Busari Toyin Isiaka, touring the four LGAs.

Speaking to local government officers and farmers in the said LGAs, Engr. Dr. Busari explained the aim of Fadama NG-CARES and the procedure that the eligible farmers have to take in benefiting from the programme and the roles of the local government officers in helping to actualise the objectives of the programme. Rolling out the criteria for eligibility, he expressly stated that only the poor and vulnerable households that have been affected by the impacts of the Covid-19 plague, adding that women and youths are prioritised in the scheme.

He further spelt out the Disbursement-Linked Indicators entailed in the programme, which he enumerated as inputs and assets on crop production, livestock, fish farming, poultry, productive assets, extension service and others.

The Coordinator then noted that the Fadama NG-CARES Result Area2 is an initiative through which Governor AbdulRazaq will provide succour to the poor and vulnerable farmers with the aim of bringing back their economic status and reducing the havoc the Covid-19 pandemic has inflicted on them.

While commending Governor AbdulRazaq for his genuine intention to dampen the harshness Coronavirus has brought to humanity, he urged farmers to cooperate so that the programme will be successfully delivered in accordance with His Excellency's intention.

Local government Officers and farmers present at the LGAs expressed their gratitude to the Kwara State Government, promising to abide by the rules guiding the programme, saying that AbdulRazaq-led administration is a good illustration of true democracy.

The events at the various LGAs visited featured different ceremonies, especially the issuance and presentation of certificates to farmers in Ilorin West Local Government Council.
