Press Release: Abdullahi mourns the passage of Bamigboye

Date: 2018-09-22

Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the former Minister of Youth Development and Sports, deeply mourns the death of Brig-Gen. David Bamigboye (retd), the first governor of Kwara State who governed the state between 1967 and 1975. Mallam Abdullahi, a frontline gubernatorial aspirant of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) for Kwara State, extends his condolences to the family of the deceased as well as to the people and government of Kwara State over the loss of the patriot and dedicated administrator.

Abdullahi notes that the Late Bamigboye laid the foundation for the development of the modern Kwara, through his strides and vision as a military administrator, describing the late Bamigboye as a Spartan, discipline and upright man who was fair to all and pursued his task as governor with a single-minded devotion and courage.

"He was a man who had a great vision for our state and worked very hard to make that dream a reality. As one of the longest-serving military administrators, you can still find his imprints in the state. "Although he had a long, prosperous and successful life, his passage is no less painful and sad. We shall definitely miss him. May his soul rest in peace,'' Abdullahi said.
