Defection: Saraki's Exparte motion a rape of Judiciary

Date: 2018-08-01

Press Statement Defection: Saraki's Exparte motion a rape of Judiciary A legal luminary Barr. Edun Alabi Bolaji has described the exparte injunction granted the dissolved State working Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) loyal to Dr. Bukola Saraki as nothing but a rape of justice.

Barr. Edun who spoke with newsmen at the High Court premises Ilorin shortly after the presiding judge, Justice T.S Umar granted the motion.

Edun said: "The said exparte motion which was granted today was filed around 5:55pm yesterday (Tuesday), it is against all known norms and tradition of the judiciary that a case will be filed, get to the table of Chief Judge, assigned to a presiding judge and heard and interim order granted within 12 hours.

"T. S who presided and granted the exparte injunction normally sits in Omu-Aran every Wednesday, it is suspicious the urgency that made him stay back in Ilorin.

" They came to court without putting us in notice to seek a relief, we got privileged information that the case will be heard this morning and rushed to court. They denied us free hearing, we weren't served, yet we came to the court and the presiding judge disregarded our presence and granted the order.

"It is funny how the court will grant an order to a claimant who lacks locus, the Balogun Fulani led dissolved SWC have ceased to be members of APC as they already announced their defection yesterday and it is all over the media.

" How would a court order the reversal of an action that has been completed, it has no basis in law" he stressed.

On what the next line of action would be, Barr. Edun said "As I speak with you now, we haven't been officially served neither the court process nor the exparte order. Why are they denying us access to a public document, this calls for concern and the whole world must be put on notice of what is presently going on?" he stressed.
