Ali Ahmad sympathises with Kwara United FC

The Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Dr. Ali Ahmad has expressed his sympathy to the management, staff and players of Kwara United Football Club following the team's involvement in an accident on Wednesday while returning to Ilorin from Lagos State.

This is contained in a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media, Shuaib Abdulkadir, in Ilorin on Thursday, stressing that the news was received with a shock but with gratitude to Allah that no life was lost in the accident.

Ahmad who rued the sad occurrence noted that it happened when the football club was putting finishing touches to its preparation for the commencement of the forthcoming National Professional Football League (NPFL) new season.

The Speaker said it is hoped that the unfortunate incident would not draw the football club backward, adding that the team should put the incident behind them in order to be in great shape for the new league season.

According to him, "the news came to us as a shock but we thank Allah that few individuals who sustained injuries are positively reacting to the treatment. Kwarans are positive with the team's preparation, it will do the state proud in the professional league".

He, however, enjoined the team not to be deterred in its objectives of not only securing a continental ticket at the end of the forthcoming season but also strive to be crowned as the nation's Champions.

The legislator called for stakeholders support and maximum cooperation to enable the team excel in the NPFL.

Ahmad pledged the State House of Assembly's support for the football club, stressing that the 8th Legislature is determined and committed to the improvement of sports in the state.
