Senate President empowers late Rashidi Yekini's mother

The Senate President, Bukola Saraki on Friday, offered some assistance to the family of late African Footballer of the Year, Rashidi Yekini. Saraki made the announcement during an empowerment programme for the family of late ex-International, Rashidi Yekinni at Ijagbo in Oyun Local Government area of Kwara State.

The assistance includes stocking Rashidi Yekinni's mother's shop with more goods; digging of a well; renovation of a section of her house and mosque; engagement of a house maid and a nurse for the woman as well as a presentation of a tricycle to the younger brother of the soccer legend, Akeem Yekini.

Represented by the General Manager of Abubakar Bukola Saraki Ilorin Football Club, Mr. Alloy Chukwuemeka, the Senate President said he decided to empower the family in order to improve on their well-being, particularly, his aged mother, Hajia Sikirat Yekini.

Saraki expressed hope that the gesture would make the family more comfortable, particularly, Yekini's mother. Responding, the mother of the late footballer, Sikirat Yekini thanked the Senate President for the support to her family.

Also speaking, Rashidi's elated brother, Akeem said he was happy for the gesture and promised to use the tricycle to earn a living. Highlight of the programme was the donation of jerseys and footballs to the under-thirteen football team in the community.
