Arrested political thugs, not our members - Kwara OPC

Date: 2016-05-16

OODUA People's Congress (OPC) in Kwara State comrade has said that arrested suspects during the PDP state congress in Ilorin last week are not members of the organisation.

It is recalled that some persons armed with arms and ammunition, including charms were arrested during the PDP state congress held at Stella Obasanjo multipurpose hall, Ilorin by men of the police.

Speaking with journalists after monthly congress of the organisation in Ilorin at the weekend, the state coordinator of the OPC, Comrade Ganiyu Oladipo, said that none of his members took part in politicking, adding that the group would never be dragged into politics.

The OPC coordinator said that the organisation was now reformed with spread across 134 countries, adding that it could not afford to dent the image of Yoruba sons and daughters who are members in those countries.

He however requested that thorough investigations be conducted to confirm the actual identity of the security outfit involved in the act, adding that an end must come to politics of thuggery in Nigeria.

Comrade Oladipo enjoined members of the public to contact the state secretariat of OPC for clarification on contemporary issues to avoid peddling of rumours.
