Pillars eye redemption points at Kwara

Date: 2015-05-03

Kano Pillars captain and goalkeeper Theophilus Afelokhai has said his side will do what is needed to end the away drought at Kwara United.

The reigning Nigerian champions will be the guests of Afonja Warriors in Glo Premier League match day 7 clash on Sunday at the Kwara State Stadium in llorin.

Afelokhai said it will be simply unacceptable and undignified for his side to play three away matches without a point.

"Keen watchers of our game at Heartland in Owerri on Thursday would tell you that we had no reason to lose the game but for the questionable penalty to the home side.

"Well, that's history as we're focused on the game at Kwara United in llorin on Sunday as we'll fight hard to avoid defeat in the clash.

"Of course, we won't want to go through three away matches without a point, that will be unacceptable and unbefitting to our status as Nigerian champions.

"Kwara United are most likely to come out hard at us to impress the home fans and supporters as well as strive for the points but we won't allow them the luxury of a victory dance.

"It's certain to be a difficult game but we don't have any choice but to dig deep for at least a point in the encounter," said the Super Eagles shot stopper to supersport.com.

The Pyramid City side are seventh on the league log on nine points from a possible 18 though with an away game at hand against 3SC.
