Many Muslims in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital will celebrate the Eid el-Fitri today, Daily Trust gathered.

This is contrary to the announcement made by Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Mohammad Sa’ad Abubakar, that the new moon of Shawwal was sighted in nine states on Saturday night. The decision, it was gathered, was due to the fact that there was no announcement from Ilorin Emirate Council directing the Muslim Ummah to end the Ramadan fast.

However, Muslims in some parts of the state celebrated the Eid-el-fitri festival yesterday following the announcement by the Sultan of Sokoto.

Daily Trust gathered that the two-Rakat Eid prayer was observed in at least three central mosques in Ilorin, yesterday.

The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, is expected to lead other Ummah to observe the two-rakat prayer at the Ilorin Central praying ground today.

When contacted, the Mogaji Nda of Ilorin, Alhaji Mohammed Salihu Woru Mohammed, confirmed to Daily Trust that the emir fasted yesterday and “apparently tomorrow (Monday) is Eid-el-Fitri”.
