SARAKI, BARAJE HAIL KWARA APC WARD CONGRESSES

Date: 2014-04-07

Former Kwara State governor, Senator Bukola Saraki has hailed the peaceful conduct of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ward congresses which held at the weekend.

Saraki joined his ward members in Ajikobi ward as early as 10.30.am where the new executive members for the ward had been elected.

Also, another chieftain of the party, Alhaji Kawu Baraje, who supervised the inauguration of the executive expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the congresses, saying it would be an impossible task for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) PDP to win the state in the forthcoming general elections.

Baraje, who was acting national chairman of the PDP said though the PDP is hunting for Kwara state, it would be an impossible task for it, saying no stranger could dislodge the political dynasty of late strongman of Kwara politics, Dr. Olusola Saraki as currently led by his son, Bukola Saraki.

He said, “I am highly impressed and fulfilled because when you are building a house and you start with a solid foundation then you are confident that you are going to have a very strong structure.

“Every politician has an aspiration; every political party has its own target. We believe the target of other political parties, PDP inclusive is Kwara. This is because we are master planners; we are pace setters, when it comes to political organisation, cohesion and internal stability,” he said.

APC members across the 193 wards in the state trooped out to participate in the exercise to elect officers who would steer the ship of the party at the ward level.

All the ward executive members were chosen through a consensus arrangement as agreed by stakeholders and leaders of the party.

The opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) also scheduled its congress for Saturday but Daily Trust reliably gathered that the police did not give them permit prompting its shift to today.

It would be recalled that the state police command had said it would not grant permit for two opposing parties to hold rallies and campaigns on the same day to forestall breakdown of law and order.
