Aiyedun's death saddens me, says Bolaji Abdullahi
The National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, has described the death of a former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State, Alhaji Yusuf Ayedun, as a huge loss.
Abdullahi said it was saddening to be informed about the death of the All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain at a time like this when his wealth of experience was needed to galvanize the political system.
Reacting last night to the death, the APC spokesman particularly noted that Kwara has lost one of its illustrious sons and a respected elder and stalwart in the state polity.
Abdullahi, a former Minister of Sports and Youth Development and one-time Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, said the deceased inscribed his footprints on the sands of time.
He said the late politician would be sorely missed but remembered for his selfless service and sacrifices to the development of the state.
"I want to say that Alhaji Yusuf Ayedun's death is a huge loss to the people of Kwara State and Nigeria in general. I'm saddened not just because he joined his ancestors but we have lost a man with a colossal experience.
"I recall with nostalgia the wealth of experience he brought to bear when he served as Chairman of Kwara State chapter of the PDP when the party then was the ruling party. His contributions, selfless service and sacrifices really galvanized the state polity.
"For us, he would be greatly and sorely missed particularly now that his experience was needed to give our people new lease of life. I have always known him to be a gentleman among his peers and was very supportive of both government and political structure in the state.
"Certainly, death is inevitable but it is saddening to have received the news now. We can't quantify the loss but we beseech Almighty Allah to forgive him of his sins and misdeeds while on this planet earth. We condole members of his family to see Alhaji Ayedun's death as one of the certainties in life that we shall all experience one day", Abdullahi said.
