Kwara Muslim Stakeholders Urge Buhari to Rule with Fear of God

Date: 2015-04-06

The Kwara State Muslim Stakeholders, a forum representing Muslim leaders in all the 16 local government areas of the state, has said that the success of the last presidential election was made possible by the fervent prayers of all religious leaders in the country.

Also, at the weekend, the Obafemi Awolowo University Muslim Graduates Association (OAUMGA) has joined other Nigerians to congratulate the president-elect, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari on his recent electoral victory, saying that Buhari should rise to the social vices affecting the socio-economic development of the country

The group, in a statement signed by the former secretary-general, Jama'atu Nasri-I-Islam (JNI), Justice Abdulkadir Orire, also advised the president-elect to justify the confidence reposed in him by leading with fear of God, bearing in mind that the expectations of Nigerians are high.

The group also expressed joy with the peaceful conduct of March 28 elections and thanked the Almighty Allah for allowing the election to go on without rancour and acrimony despite the prediction that Nigeria may cease to exist as a result of the election.

Justice Orire, who is the pioneer Grand Khadi, Kwara State Sharia Court of Appeal, also prayed that the forthcoming governorship and state assembly elections are conducted under a peaceful atmosphere.

The group however urged General Buhari to strive to unite Nigerians and run his government without ethnic, tribal or religious sentiment and as well as appoint people with competence and proven integrity in his government to drive his policies and programmes.

In another related development, the Obafemi Awolowo University Muslim Graduates Association (UNIFEMGA) has joined other Nigerians to congratulate the president-elect, Gen Buhari on his triumph at the last general election.

The group in a statement issued in Ilorin yesterday by its national president, Professor Wahab Egbewole, said there was no doubt that the election was a well-deserved one in view of the pedigree of Gen. Buhari.

It also acknowledged the statesmanship and the pristine sportsmanship disposition of President Goodluck Jonathan for conceding defeat even before the official announcement of the result, adding that, "Indeed, Nigeria has joined the comity of great nations as he will be recorded on the positive side of history".
