Imbibe virtues of humility, piety of Prophet Muhammed - Kwara Speaker

Date: 2015-01-03

Muslims in Nigeria have been urged to imbibe the virtues of piety, humility and modesty of Prophet Mohammed to restore peace, stability and accelerated development of the nation.

Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Honourable Razak Atunwa, gave the piece of advice while felicitating with Muslims on the occasion of Eid-el-Maulud.

The Speaker, in a statement by his Media Assistant, Alhaji Abdul Rahman Sanni, which was made available to journalists in Ilorin at the weekend, described Prophet Mohammed as an epitome of piety, humility, tolerance, modesty and disciplinarian par excellence, adding that his life should be emulated by all Nigerians.

Atunwa noted, with displeasure, that the current situation in Nigeria called for sober reflection on issues inhibiting its development and spiritual rejuvenation to salvage the country from its present predicament.

He expressed confidence that the nation would overcome its challenges when Nigerians put national interest above other considerations.

The Speaker praised the people of Kwara State for ensuring peaceful co-existence, in spite of ethno-religious differences and urged them to sustain the tempo.
