Kwara Assembly invites acting judge for screening
Kwara State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Salihu-Danladi, has directed the state acting Chief Judge, Justice Abiodun Adebara, to appear before the House on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, for screening and confirmation as substantive Chief Judge of the state.
The screening would take place on the floor of the House by 10am
This followed a message from the governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, requesting the confirmation of Justice Adebara as Chief Judge addressed to the Speaker and read on the floor of the House during Tuesday's plenary.
Abdulrazaq said in the letter to the Assembly that “the name of Justice Adebara was forwarded to the House following the retirement of Justice Sulaiman Durosinlohun Kawu, the erstwhile Chief Judge in order not to create a vacuum in the dispensation of justice in the State.
“Justice Adebara is being considered as a substantive Chief Judge sequel to his recommendation by National Judicial Council in line with section Two Seven-One Subsection One of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The Speaker, therefore, directed Justice Adebara to submit 34 copies of his credentials to the office of the Clerk before close of work today, Tuesday 4th April, 2023.
The governor also submitted a list of five nominees to the Assembly for screening and confirmation as Chairman and members of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission in the state.
The nominees are Abubakar Abdullahi Uthman, chairman: Mrs Oyedun Juliana, member; Alhaji Yusuf Abdulganiyu Aremu, member; and Abdul Gana Lukpada; member.
Abdulrazaq said the nominees are highly qualified and possess necessary skills and experience to carry out their duties.
The speaker also directed all the nominees to appear before the Assembly on Wednesday (tomorrow) for screening and submit thirty-five copies of their credentials to the clerk office before the close of work today, Tuesday, April 4, 2023.
