Press Release: APC's allegation on Mrs Buhari's attack is babaric - Aluko

Date: 2015-03-18

My attention has been drawn to a press statement issued by the Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Kwara State, Hon. Ishola Balogun -Fulani, alleging that the attack on the wife of the party's presidential candidate, Hajia Aishat Muhammadu Buhari, was sponsored by me.

I was highly disappointed at the way the APC is driving this nation towards encouraging politics with bitterness and also glorifying hatred and enmity among our people just because of votes.

As a responsible citizen of this state who has a genuine stake and interest in nation-building especially the growth and development of our dear state, Kwara, I found it utmost important to condemn the unfounded allegation in its entirety describing it as uncharitable to the relative peaceful co-existence in which we are enjoining in Kwara State despite our political differences.

Let it also be on record that the deliberate attempt by the Kwara APC to assassinate my humble character in frivolous, ungodly, unwanted, questionable and barbaric to the growth and develop of our nascent democracy. The claim is a blatant lie and cheap blackmail aimed at distracting the attention of the focused people of Kwara State.

This reaction became pertinent owing to the fact that the Kwara PDP governorship campaign train was in Kwara South, to be precise, in Omu-Aran headquarters of Irepodun Local government area in which myself and the governorship candidate, Sen Simeon Ajibola was part of the tour as at the time Mrs Buhari was allegedly attacked in Ilorin.

We are aware that the APC is already confused understanding the fact that their days are outrightly numbered in the government of Kwara State due to the PDP mass acceptance has reflected in the statewide campaign trips so far.

We however advised the APC and their co-travelers to dwell more on issue-based politics and desist from attempting to soil the our cherished reputation for cheap political gain and undue sympathy understanding the fact APC has been fingered in indiscriminate destruction of our bill boards and direct attacks on us during campaigns on several occasions .

We thereby urged our teeming supporters to remain calm and committed to the freedom struggle and vote massively for PDP at all levels in the forthcoming general elections.

Mallam Ahmed Yinka Aluko
Deputy Governorship Candidate, Kwara PDP
