Kwara Perm Sec. inaugurates MOC for 1st Beach Soccer competition
Inaugurating the Committee on Monday at the Ministry of Sports and Youth Development, the Permanent Secretary Mr. Samuel Ayobola, charged members of the committee to justify the confidence reposed in them.
He said members were picked based on their wealth of experience and called on them to make the experience count while discharging their duties.
Ayobola explained that the ministry is encouraging partnership because government alone cannot shoulder the responsibility of developing sports.
"Kwara is always setting the pace in sports development and we will do same with this tournament.
"We will use this tournament to set another standard, that others will continue to emulate.
"We will give you all necessary support to make this competition succeed.
"Let us take our assignment seriously because we must all work together to achieve this success" Ayobola said.
Earlier in his address, the Chief Executive Officer of Sheedel Global Concept, the company partnering the ministry to organise the competition, Mr. Dele Oguntokun, said the programme is put together to bring beach soccer close to Kwarans.
He said the state was chosen because of its giant strides in promotion of sporting activities as a cardinal responsibilities in measuring social and general development of the state.
Oguntokun explained members were carefully selected to organise the competition on merit based on their credibility and great performance in the past.
In his remark, the Director Sports Development in the ministry, Alhaji Shehu Muhammed, said the competition is very important because it is posed to engage the youth.
He commended the ministry for allowing sports to grow fast in the state.
