Ahmed's wife commissions 28th Cancer centre in Kwara
The wife of Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara State, Omolewa, on Tuesday inaugurated an additional cancer screening centre in Offa, Offa Local Government Area of the state.
Ahmed said at the inauguration of the 28th cancer centre at the General Hospital, Offa, that it was part of the her empowerment programme for women in the community with trading tools.
She advised women in the state who noticed any strange development in their body to seek medical care.
The governor’s wife, who is also the Founder, Life Empowers Anchors Hope (LEAH) Foundation, said breast and cervical cancer were silent killer diseases that kills every woman in a second.
She said that early detection was the key solution to prevention and cure.
She noted that the aim of commissioning the centres at the grassroots was to check maternal mortality in the society as a result of breast and cervical cancer.
Ahmed also distributed items worth millions of Naira as a special women empowerment programme to women of Offa and Erinle, Oyun Local Govenrment Area of Kwara.
Speaking, Oba Mufutau Gbadamoshi Esuwoye, the Oloffa of Offa II, acknowledged the commitment of Ahmed in empowering women and prayed to God to strengthen her in the humanitarian endeavour.
Earlier, the Chairman of Offa Local Government Area, Mr Abdulwaheed Olanipekun, applauded the efforts of the Kwara First lady in reducing the burden of poverty.
Olanipekun also praised Ahmed for empowering women of the state to galvanise them for productive commercial activities.
