Press Release: Kwara APC Youths Deny Attacking Party Leaders
The youths, in a joint press briefing yesterday in Ajasse-Ipo addressed by Sunkanmi Ereoye, Coordinator of the Youth Leaders from seven LGs comprising Kwara South Senatorial District, said contrary to media reports that they opposed APC Kwara South Elders forum's agenda, the fracas was due to a misunderstanding unrelated to the elders' meeting
According to them: "To set the record straight, we will like to state exactly what happened. On that day, we heard that our Elders were consulting with some stakeholders at Ajasse Ipo to sensitize them on what the government has done in Kwara South and the need to continue our support for the Executive Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed for the sake of continuity and equity.
On getting there, however, we had a disagreement on another issue. This led to an unfortunate fracas among us which has sadly been misreported as an attack on the APC Elders. That is far from the truth.
According to Ereoye, "let it be known therefore that we are neither opposed to our APC Elders nor to their mission of canvassing support for our amiable Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed's re-election".
We commend Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed for reaching out and consulting with stakeholders from across the three senatorial districts, including elders, youths, women, students and all relevant groups from Kwara South. We are proud of the achievements of the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed in this first term and fully support him in the interest of fair play and continuity".
They recalled that "the youths have benefitted in no small measure from the 10, 200 bridge and permanent jobs created by this administration, the reduction in fees at Kwara State University, Malete, the empowerment of artisans with N100m, among other life transforming interventions by the youth loving Governor Kwara State and want His Excellency to be given the chance to continue the good works he started".
