Niger, Kebbi, Kaduna, others to meet on security challenges
Disturbed by the various security challenges facing his state and others around Niger State, the state governor, Dr Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, has said that a security meeting of the governors of Kwara, Kebbi Kaduna Zamfara Kaduna and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) will soon hold to find solutions to the problem.
All the states share boundaries with Niger State and Governor Aliyu believed that if they could partner effectively, the security challenges facing the states would be solved.
Aliyu made the disclosure in Minna, on Tuesday, when he received traditional rulers from the state who paid him a congratulatory visit on his victory at the April polls and inauguration as governor for a second term in office.
Aliyu also told the traditional rulers that he would work closely with them and their colleagues in the mentioned states on how to eliminate people of questionable characters from their domains.
It will be recalled that Niger and Kaduna states and the FCT had suffered series of bomb blasts in recent times which led to loss of lives and property.
The governor also said that he would partner with his colleagues in Kebbi, Kwara and Kogi states on how to actualise the Hydro Power Producing Areas Development Commission which President Goodluck Jonathan had signed its bill into law.
He argued that though the bill had received the president’s assent, it had not been gazetted and was not part of the 2011 budget, necessitating the need for the governors to rise for the implementation of the provisions of the bill.
On politics, Governor Aliyu said the ruling party in the state went to sleep which resulted in the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) making inroads into the state.
