66,000 pupils seek Junior secondary schools admission in Kwara — Official
No fewer than 66,055 Primary Six Pupils sat for the Common Entrance (Placement) Examination into Junior Secondary School(JSS1) Classes in Kwara when the schools opened for the 2023/2024 in September this year.
According to a statement by Peter Amogbonjaye, Press Secretary, Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, the State Common Entrance Examination, which took place across the 16 Local Government Areas of the State, was conducted peacefully.
The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mrs Kemi Adeosun, who lauded the conduct of this year’s placement examination, charged teachers in the state to continue to put in their best towards improving the standard of education in the state.
She reiterated further the state government’s commitment to revamping education development in the state.
Also speaking, the Director, Curriculum and Assessment Department, Alhaji Abdukadir Sheu described this year’s placement examination as one of the best.
He pointed out that the state government should be commended for taking a bold step at reforming the sector, stating that the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has performed remarkably well in the education sector, compared to past administrations in the state.
One of the pupils who sat for the placement examination at Government Secondary School, Ilorin, Adebayo Idowu expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the examination and prayed to meet up with the cut-off mark for the flagship school.
The schools visited by the Permanent Secretary include St. Anthony Secondary School, Government High School, Adeta, and United Community Secondary School. Others are Government Secondary School, Cherubim and Seraphim College, Bishop Smith Memorial College, and Queen Elizabeth School, all in the Ilorin metropolis.
