Three rescued from kidnappers’ den in Kwara
Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Kwara state Command, have rescued three persons from kidnappers’ den in Ilorin, the state capital.
DAILY POST gathered that the victims boarded a Keke Napep at Oja-Oba in Ilorin on November 9,2022 at about 7p.m, heading to Lanre-Gada in Ilorin metropolis.
According to the account of the incident, while the tricycle was in motion, a member of the gang allegedly brought out a gun and threatened to kill them if they raised the alarm.
Instead of heading to Lanre-Gada, the driver of the Keke Napep diverted to another route into a bush where they were tortured.
However, following intelligence information, the anti-mining unit operatives of the civil defence corps, led by Mr A.Yusuf, tracked and raided the kidnappers den at about 9.20p.m on the same fateful day and rescued the victims.
Our correspondent learnt that though the kidnappers escaped, a brand new motorcycle allegedly used in their operations to kidnap victims was recovered in their den.
One of the victims, a woman, identified as Mrs Abdullateef, narrated her ordeal in the incident in a video which has gone viral on social media.
She said “I boarded the Keke Napep from Oja-Oba heading to Lanre-Gada in Ilorin.
“I met a woman and the driver in the van, as we proceeded, the driver picked up one other passenger on the way, a man.
“When we got to another point, the driver picked another small child and told us he would be going through Alagbado area because of traffic hold up on the normal route.
“Shortly after, the man he later picked up brought out a pistol and threatened to kill us if we raised the alarm. I was seated in the middle of two passengers of the Keke Napep at the back,” she recalled.
Efforts to reach the spokesman of the civil defence corps, Ayeni Olasunkanmi, on the incident, in Ilorin on Saturday proved abortive.
