Kwara govt vows to support "Pro-Poor-Policy"

Kwara State Government has vowed to continue to support the "Pro-Poor-Policy" of the World Bank Assisted Community and Social Development Project, CSDP in the state.

Deputy Governor, Mr Kayode Alabi stated this while declaring open the 2019 Second Quarter Review Meeting of CSDP across the country in Ilorin, the Kwara State Capital.

Mr Alabi who noted that the achievements of the project are laudable and overwhelming across the state said that the present Government would not relent in meeting contractual obligations of the project.

National Coordinator of CSDP, Dr Abdulkarim Obaje, Kwara Deputy Governor, Mr Kayode Alabi, and General Manager of Kwara State Social and Community Development Agency, Engr Amamatu Haruna with other participants He assured that government of Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq would continue to partner both the Federal Government and the World Bank to ensure that Kwara poor communities maximally benefit from the CSDP interventions.

Earlier, National Coordinator of the Community and Social Development Project, CSDP, Dr Abdulkarim Obaje explained that the 2019 Second Quarter Review Meeting would among other things, review and compare the progress and achievements across the states, assess key implementation challenges and draw up a national strategy towards fast tracking implementation ahead of the closure of the project in June 2020.

Dr Obaje noted that the project since inception has expended about seventy billion Naira to address the needs of the poorest of the poor living in rural communities in all the thirty participating States across the nation stressing that Federal Government would continue to complement the efforts of state governments in meeting their financial and technical needs.
