Date: 2019-01-23

The Obafemi Awolowo University Muslim Graduates Association will on February 2 honour 13 of its members for their achievements and contributions to the development of the association.

A statement by Alhaji Mohammed Buari, the National Public Relations Officer, said the eighth edition of the Honours' Day will hold in Ilorin, Kwara State capital, on Saturday.

Those to be honoured attained various professional milestones and are made up of two Professors, eight PhD holders, two Management Partners and one Director. Buari said Prof. Abiodun Amuda Kanike (SAN), Provost, College of Law, Kwara State University, will deliver the lecture of the day entitled: "Restructuring: Can it address the problems of Nigeria?"

The statement added that Prof. Bolaji Fatai Sule, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Management Services, University of Ilorin, would be the Chairman of the occasion.

Speaking on the uniqueness of the UNIFEMGA Honours Day, the National President of the Association, Alhaji Waheed Odeyimka, explained that those to be honoured were carefully selected and excelled in their various fields of human endeavour.

He urged members of the association to emulate the honorees and continue to strive for excellence in their chosen fields of endeavour, having had the rare privilege of passing through the four walls of Obafemi Awolowo University.

Odeyimka said the two-day event would also serve as a mini-reunion of members as there would be a National Executive Committee meeting of the association. Since 2011 when the maiden edition of the National Honours’ Day started, 105 members have so far been honored for attainment of various professional landmark achievements.

UNIFEMGA is an association of Muslim Graduates from the then University of Ife now known as the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State.
