KWHA Urges State Road Maintenance Agency to Extend its Work to LGA Hqtrs

The Kwara State House of Assembly, has urged the State Government, to adequately fund the State Road Maintenance Agency (KWARMA), to enable it spread its operation "no potholes" across the state.

This is the resolution of the House, following a Matter of General Public Importance, raised by the House Leader, Hon. Hassan Oyeleke, at the Floor of the House.

The Deputy Speaker, Chief Mathew Okedare, who presided over the Tuesday's sitting, said the need to adequately fund the agency became expedient, to enable it fill existing potholes in the state capital and other roads leading to the 16 Local Government headquarters in the state.

This, according to him, would fast track vehicular movement and movement of agricultural products, pointing out that road construction was pivotal to accelerated socio- economic transformation of the state.

The House Leader, Hon. Hassan Oyeleke, had while raising the matter, praised the state government for its operation no pothole policy and urged it to extend it to all other Local Government headquarters in the state, to ease vehicular movement.

Members representing Oke Ero, Ifelodun, Irepodun, Kaiama/Wajibe and Bani/Adena/Gweria Constituencies, Hons. Bunmi Afolayan, Jimoh Akanni Abdul-Rahman, Mathew Babaoye, Ahmed Ibn Mohammed and Suleiman Baziki, had in their contributions, urged the state government, to decentralize its development strides and embark on construction of more rural roads, across the state, to hasten socio- economic development and improve the revenue base of the state.

The House equally observed a minute silent in honour of the Pioneer Speaker, Alhaji Shehu Usman, following a Matter of Urgent Public Importance, raised by member representing Patigi Constituency, Hon Shuaib Abdulkadir, on his demise, at the floor of the House.
